Bio: Saif Kasmikha is the managing attorney and co-founder of Midwest Legal Partners PLLC. Saif focuses his practice on healthcare law and corporate law, specifically the transactional aspects of healthcare. This involves representation of physicians, hospitals, clinics, and other health institutions. His areas of practice include HIPAA, Stark Law, Anti-kickback Statutes, Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FWA) claims, physician recruitment, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, and strategic business consultations of hospitals and physician-owned practices. Saif has been instrumental in the formation of a physician-owned hospital, handles cases involving third party payers and reimbursement matters, and counsels on the implementation of electronic medical record (EMR) systems. His experience in business law has allowed him to start up various business entities from scratch, handle tax matters associated with corporate clients, create operating agreements for limited liability companies (LLCs), and advise on both legal and business matters for clients. He has also drafted buy-sell agreements, purchase agreements, and landlord-tenant contracts; reviewed promissory notes, and negotiated contracts with bank lenders. His education and experience has also allowed him to take on various complex litigation matters, which include insurance defense, disputes between pharmaceutical companies, and medical malpractice cases. Saif also has experience working with health plans, serving as one of a few specialized compliance and risk advisors for Humana’s national healthcare operations. He has also served as a senior Medicare compliance specialist for Meridian Health Plan. Saif is an adjunct professor of graduate level health law courses at University of Detroit-Mercy. Saif is licensed to practice law in Michigan and Illinois.

He attended law school at Loyola University-Chicago where he underwent a dual degree program for his Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration. He received a health law certificate for his JD. He also specialized in Legal Environment and Healthcare Management for his MBA.
